Yavapai County was created during Arizona’s territorial period and originally covered a much larger area than it does today. Mining, ranching, transportation and settlement all played roles in its development.
Communities Take Shape
As new counties were created and transportation improved, communities developed distinct identities. Towns grew around mines, ranches, railroads, government centers and trade routes.
