Prescott National Forest to Begin 1,700-Acre Fuels Reduction Project Near Cherry
The Prescott National Forest and Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management will begin the Log Springs forest health and fuels reduction project Oct. 14, covering about 1,700 acres west of Cherry in Yavapai County.
Crews will use mastication to thin overgrown vegetation and reduce hazardous fuels. The work is intended to lower the risk of high-intensity wildfire while improving forest and watershed health.
The project is being conducted under the Good Neighbor Authority, which allows Arizona and the U.S. Forest Service to collaborate on wildfire prevention, forest management and support for the state’s forest products industry.
Project activities are expected to continue through March 2028. Additional information is available through the Prescott National Forest website and Facebook page.
